Video game review: Advance War: Days of Ruin
BY MONTY PHAN Special to Newsday

The Advance Wars series has gotten a bit older, in more ways than one.
Not only does Days of Ruin mark the fourth installment of the title - one of the best strategy series to appear on any handheld system of the past five years - but it signifies a shift in tone, one that's decidedly darker and more mature (while remaining appropriate for preteens). Thankfully, though, the major changes stop there. For the strategy-obsessed, the game remains as satisfying as ever.
